Did you know that 1 out of 4 women experience domestic violence over their lifetimes? Did you know that Generalized Anxiety Disorder develops in about 1 in 50 people at some stage in life? Did you know that Body Dysmorphic Disorder is a mental health problem and not related to vanity? Did you know that nearly two thirds of people with a known mental illness never seek help?  Did you know that the U.S. Surgeon General found that mental illnesses are the second leading cause of disability in the nation?

If you want more information about mental health issues and access to top fashion designers, you cannot afford to miss the Summer Of Love Fair. Keira Seerose, the owner of III (a clothing brand), has taken on a major event for a worthy cause: to promote mental health via a fashion fair. The idea behind the fair is to raise awareness about a variety of mental illnesses, including, but not limited to, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, various Phobias, Anorexia, Addiction & Dependency, Autism, Self-Harm, and ADHD.

The fair opens on July 18th, 2010, and runs until August 8th. It offers brand new fashion pieces (some at discount rates) from over 200 designers. Here are some items that I particularly like. Take a look at the range of dresses offered from Donna Flora for this fair. If you have read my column before, you know that I am a fan of Donna Flora, and these dresses are no exception. I like the rich colors and the fancy designs. In particular, I like Candy’s colors because the combination works so well:

Also, look at the gorgeous summer colors that Reale is showing at the fair. If Margarida (featured in teal below) does not say “summer” I don’t know what will. The vibrant colors are an excellent choice for all avatars this summer.

Note that the fair is not only about female fashion. For example, SF Design has some interesting male fashion presented. The fair also features furniture, poses, skins (e.g., III summer tone), summer fashions (IndiRose’s chiffon jumper), fantasy costumes (N1co’s Vampirella) and much more. You just have to drop by to see it all. Not only will the Summer of Love Fair venue be filled with only new and exclusive items, but they also have freebies. The freebies include a variety of items from jewelry to bathing suits (Izzie’s SOL swimsuit), to prim shoes (H&S SOL shoes)! The best part of this is that you will help raise awareness about mental health and raise money for some charities. The proceeds of the fair go to the designers of course, as Keira Seerose’s interest is only to create a venue where the issue of mental health is brought to the surface. Nevertheless, many designers are donating their proceeds to mental health causes. For example, Fab.Pony is donating 100% of their proceeds to Cure Epilepsy, and TicketMe is donating 50% of their profits to Hopeline. No matter how you look at it, your stopping by the fair is a benefit to someone. Don’t wait. Come down and enjoy!
